About the Opportunity:
We're seeking an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support high-voltage transmission and substation commissioning projects across the US. This is a great opportunity to join a major EPC organization known for its strong safety culture, technical excellence, and employee-owned structure.
You'll play a key role in ensuring substation systems are commissioned per design specifications, tested for operational readiness, and safely turned over to the client.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, execute, and oversee commissioning activities for high-voltage substations (66kV-500kV).
Perform system walkdowns, functional testing, and equipment energization.
Review and validate commissioning test plans and relay calibration results.
Provide technical support for protection and control systems, including relay configuration, testing, and troubleshooting.
Verify proper phasing, loading, and system configuration post-energization.
Maintain commissioning documentation, test reports, and checklists for final turnover.
Support safety and quality initiatives throughout all project phases.
Qualifications
5 years of experience in transmission and substation commissioning.
Proven background in HV substation testing (required) - including breakers, transformers, CTs/PTs, GIS, and bus systems.
Familiarity with SEL and/or GE relays preferred.
Experience with Protection System design, NERC CIP, and relay test plans a strong plus.
OSHA 10 required.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred (or equivalent field experience).
Work Environment
Field-based role at high-voltage substations across Florida.
Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions.
Requires physical activity including climbing, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and long periods of standing/walking.
