Job Summary:
Seeking a skilled Commissioning Engineer to verify that plant equipment meets all project contract and specification requirements, conforms to design operational feasibility, and is properly set up and tested according to supplier standards. The role provides technical direction to technicians and craft personnel, and as the lead discipline engineer, will oversee and guide other discipline engineers and field support staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in developing startup packages and maintaining all related documentation.
Participate in creating and maintaining detailed startup schedules.
Plan and coordinate startup activities and major milestones (e.g., major equipment installation, chemical cleaning, performance testing).
Manage construction completion, turnover to startup, startup to operations, and final client handover.
Develop and implement procedures to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
Conduct system walk-downs to confirm completion status and identify outstanding work.
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned plant systems from startup through operation.
Verify that systems are installed per design and confirm operational feasibility.
Record as-built engineering changes and ensure proper setup and testing per supplier requirements.
Provide functional supervision to other engineers and startup technicians.
Support safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout all project phases.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferred).
5 years of relevant startup or commissioning experience (power generation, transmission, or similar industries preferred).
Strong knowledge of construction and startup documentation, technical principles, and industry standards.
Excellent planning, communication, and multitasking abilities.
Proficient in computer applications relevant to project and engineering management.
OSHA 10-Hour Training certification preferred.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments (standing, climbing, kneeling, etc.).
Must be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and temperature extremes.
Exposure to loud noise, confined spaces, and hazardous equipment.
Ability to work long shifts, including 12-hour days, as required by project needs.
