About the Role:
We're hiring experienced High Voltage Commissioning & Testing professionals - from Technicians to Managers - to support ongoing substation and relay commissioning projects across the U.S.
If you have hands-on experience with relay protection testing, transformer diagnostics, and substation acceptance/maintenance, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex, high-voltage systems while traveling to major project sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform relay protection testing (SEL and GE-L90 relays) using Doble 6150 or equivalent test equipment
Write and execute relay test plans and test reports
Lead or support substation commissioning, acceptance, and maintenance testing
Conduct testing on substation apparatus including:
Transformer & Breaker Power Factor Testing
Breaker Timing Testing
Transformer External Device Protection Testing
VLF Withstand and Tan Delta Testing
CT Ratio & Burden Testing
CVT Testing
Battery Capacity Load Bank Testing
Interpret and apply NETA ATS/MTS, IEEE, ASTM, and IEC standards
Maintain compliance with OSHA 1910.269, NFPA 70E (2024), and company safety policies
Train, mentor, and develop junior technicians (for Manager-level candidates)
Collaborate with utilities, EPCs, and clients to ensure project quality, safety, and successful energization
Qualifications:
3 years of experience in high-voltage substation testing & commissioning (Manager level typically 8-10 years)
Hands-on experience with Doble, Omicron, or Manta test sets
Familiarity with SEL and GE relay logic and schemes
Strong knowledge of NETA ATS/MTS standards and testing procedures
NETA Level III or IV certification preferred
Must have or complete within 30 days:
OSHA 30 (Construction)
NFPA 70E (2024 Edition)
Substation Maintenance, Testing, or Operating certifications a plus
RTAC programming experience a plus (for leadership roles)
Willingness to travel up to 90% (rotational schedules available)
