Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees day-to-day supply chain operations; develops processes to ensure smooth work operations
  • Identifies process deficiencies and recommends improvements to management; updates processes in accordance with new or changing policies, standards, regulations or laws
  • Directs logistics including marine, rail, truck, pipeline, or other modes of transportation used; oversees scheduling of transportation for feed stock, raw materials and finished goods
  • Coordinates between plant and sales; assists with projects for enhancements, quality issues, performance, and quality control
  • Develops and implements procedures or systems to evaluate and select suppliers; analyzes information about supplier performance or procurement program success
  • Meets with suppliers; discusses performance metrics; provides performance feedback as appropriate; discusses production forecasts or changes as needed
  • Handles day-to-day issues including off-standard, escalated customer questions and complaints, technical problems, etc.; troubleshoots issues and reports solutions; implements approved solutions
  • Designs supply chains to support business strategies; adapts to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies
  • Manages representatives from Inventory Control, invoicing, Customer Service, raw material trading, and procurement as required
  • Supervises, motivates, counsels, and coaches staff to accomplish Company and department objectives; ensures workloads are evenly distributed among staff for optimal results
  • Develops and reports on quality related KPI's for department; updates KPI's as required
  • Trains regularly on all Federal, state and local environmental regulations, requirements and guidelines including, but not limited to, RCRA requirements; follows and adheres to all guidelines, regulations, and requirements
  • Manages marine movements, scheduling of trucks and rail cars, pipeline throughput, and rail car loading; assesses scheduling and storage management; updates as appropriate
  • Reviews and evaluates commercial contracts and operational insurance;
  • Handles commercial insurance updates; manages insurance contract adjustments from construction to operating
  • Evaluates and selects information or other technology solutions to improve tracking and reporting of materials or products distribution and storage; analyzes inventory levels; recommends methods to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer services
  • Diagrams supply chain models and develops material cost forecasts
  • Defines performance metrics for measurement, comparison and evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality and implements new or improved supply chain processes
  • Designs procedures for coordination of supply chain with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production, or quality assurance and assesses appropriate material handling equipment needs and staffing levels to load, unload, move, or store product or materials
  • Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of EHSS principles and values; champions safety
  • Performs other duties assigned by management that generally fall within the expected scope of this position

Experience Required

  • Mininum of 7 years' experience in supply chain; petrochemical industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of operational and administrative requirements for products of assigned customers
  • Knowledge of Company processes and infrastructure; ability to locate customer information including contracts
  • Strong mathematics skills, ability to calculate weights/volumes
  • Ability to communicate with loaders, dock workers, customers, and co-workers
  • Possess a thorough understanding of U.S. Customs and Border Protection requirements for goods entering and leaving the United States
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials movement requirements and federal, state and other transportation statutes and regulations
  • Awareness of Customer's key success factors, internal organization, logistic process, and contracts
  • Knowledge of operational and administrative requirements for products
  • Excellent communication skills; both oral and written; Spanish language helpful; excellent presentation skills; listening skills
  • Proven ability to build trusting relationships; ability to manage, motivate, coach and work with other people
  • Proven organizational skills; ability to prioritize in a multi-tasking arena; goal oriented; influencing and negotiations skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to use database systems and other programs and applications used by this position and at Company
  • Fluent in English language including reading, writing and speaking; ability to read and write at a minimum of high school level; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or similar field preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • DOT certification helpful
