Job Description

We have an immediate opening for a Substation Project Engineer to work for an Engineering Consultancy based in South Florida. They are seeking an Electrical Engineering specialist who has extensive knowledge in Substation projects.

The role

  • Capable of doing Transmission and Distribution Substation engineering for both new and modifications to existing equipment
  • Ability to work with Designers to convey workprints for Designers to transfer to final drawings
  • Ability to perform Microstation drafting would be a plus but not required
  • Able to manage project from scope, bill of materials, engineering, work prints, coordinate with designers, release of final drawings and documents, and keep project on time and budget
  • Able to develop an electrical plan from a main one line diagram
  • Able to develop section views from an electrical plan
  • Have some knowledge of mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, and architectural engineering
  • Be familiar with tools, cranes, construction equipment, steel and construction materials
  • Able to interpret drawings and draw sections, details, views, isometrics, etc.
  • Familiar with substation electrical circuitry descriptions, such as CTs, PTs, CVTs, breakers, ring bus, breaker-and-a-half, double breaker, etc. and the ratings of such
  • Familiar with NESC

Training & Education

  • Previous Electric Utility Experience required, with FPL/NEER engineering experience desired
  • PE desired, or ability to obtain desired
  • Proficient with Win7-10, MS Office Programs and Familiar with Microstation and/or AutoCad drawings
