Job Opportunity: Senior Commercial Estimator | Renewable Energy | Remote - California | Up to $140k

Location: California - Remote

Role Overview:

The Senior Commercial Solar Estimator will manage and assist with design and proposals for multifamily housing and commercial solar projects throughout California. The role involves handling projects ranging from 20kW to 51MW, with a focus on new construction. Responsibilities include creating high-quality solar and storage estimates, generating budgets and proposals, and managing a large project pipeline efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Design: Create and size solar systems using Helioscope based on usage and Title 24 requirements.
• Material Estimation: Complete detailed and itemized solar material quantity estimates from various plan sets.
• System Sizing: Determine appropriate solar system type, interconnection, and sizing.
• Proposal Preparation: Prepare quotations and proposals from architectural drawings.
• Administrative Duties: Handle clerical tasks related to filing and job folders.
• Blueprint Reading: Read and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications to prepare estimates.
• Data Calculation: Gather and calculate take-off data using digital programs.
• Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with the sales team.
• Budget Generation: Generate preliminary and final project budgets based on bid proposals.
• Estimate Accuracy: Ensure estimates are thorough and facilitate construction by field operations.
• Bid Tracking: Maintain and track bid schedules.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma required; college degree or some college experience preferred.
• Experience: 2-3 years of experience in solar or electrical work.
• Software Proficiency: Experience with Helioscope and Energy Toolbase.
• Estimating Experience: Background in estimating construction or architectural products.
• Blueprint Reading: Experience reading construction drawings and specifications.
• Project Types: Familiarity with new construction and retrofit commercial PV and battery projects.
• Design Knowledge: Knowledge of solar design, building codes, and Title 24 requirements for commercial and residential PV systems.
• Specialties: Experience with commercial batteries, VNEM, ground mounts, and solar carports.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
