My Client are looking for a Materials Manager to responsible for control of material planning, procurement, inventory, warehouse, and quality; they are responsible for the ordering, scheduling, movement, and tracking of all make and purchased parts, including those for production, production-representative, prototype, and p-card. They manage the stocking and kitting process, and all shipping, receiving, and stockroom functions.

Here's what you'll be working on day to day:

  • Manage issues of budget, staffing, training, and expenditures of the Materials Department as well as the day‑to‑day operations
  • Work closely with Contracts, Program Management, Quality, Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Configuration Management, Government Property Administrator, internal suppliers
  • Schedule, prioritize and expedite material planning and purchasing resources to achieve timely delivery of production and non-production deliverables, and execute in accordance with standard operating procedures, work instructions, and BMDL's
    • Ensures daily inventory cycle counts, inventory accuracy, year-end physical inventory counts, the minimization of the inventory investment, the assurance that inventory (and WIP) complies to the latest engineering revisions, and the optimization of production flow
  • Review, and disposition of excess and obsolete inventory
  • Through the Shipping and Receiving function, assure timely, cost-effective shipments, and compliance with all regulations
  • Coordinate with the PM team to forecast and document the required personnel needs (engineering, supply chain, technicians, etc.) for each program
  • Work with the PM team to ensure that the contractual requirements for hardware, software, delivery, etc., are met through planning, monitoring, and expediting
  • Assist the PM team with the generation of program-specific master schedules for production, engineering, etc., through coordination and collaboration with customers, as required
  • Monitor overall Turreted Weapon Systems programs' costs, schedules, task completions and deliveries for performance against schedules and work with the team to take appropriate action
  • Lead the efforts to update and report individual program status, major events, issues, etc., to senior leaders inside and outside of the organization, including information concerning status of current programs, leads on new business, trends in hardware issues, and program pricing
  • Support all aspects of new business proposal development including providing inputs to Sales Managers for development of bookings and Sales Forecasts
  • Support the Business Unit by understanding and executing material plan to schedule. Work closely with Contracts, Engineering and Program Management to clarify requirements.
  • Control of the parts flow "from cradle to grave" and deliver to plan. Monitor progress to meet the shipping targets.
  • Oversee the release and maintenance of shop work orders to the floor to support the shipment plan and program close out.
  • Ensure that Materials personnel receive proper instruction in the maintenance and utilization of the materials management system.
  • Prepare annual recommendations for salary increases.

Here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Business, Industrial Management, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering with a minimum of seven to eight years of experience in materials/supply chain in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Proactive drive and human relations skills to assure accuracy and on-time delivery, and to tactfully service the needs of the staff, program managers and requesters
  • Ability to rapidly acquire a sound understanding of the ERP system
  • Ability to acquire a basic familiarity with the major products, bills of material, supply base, work instructions, manufacturing processes and capabilities, as well as the scope and timelines of customer programs.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with formal project management, including use of project management tools
