Position Overview: The Electrical Engineer (Substations Specialist) will play a critical role in the design, analysis, and maintenance of electrical substations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in substation engineering, including the design and implementation of high voltage systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Develop detailed designs for electrical substations, including layout plans, equipment specifications, and system integration to meet project requirements and standards.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct analysis of substation systems, including power flow, short circuit, and protective device coordination studies, to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Project Management: Manage substation engineering projects from inception to completion, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Equipment Specification: Specify and select high voltage equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and protective relays, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs and implementations comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve technical issues related to substation operations, maintenance, and performance, providing engineering solutions to complex problems.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design drawings, technical reports, and operation manuals.
- Client Interaction: Engage with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and address any concerns related to substation projects.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on substations, including design, analysis, and project management.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of high voltage systems, substation design principles, and electrical safety standards; proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, AutoCAD).
- Certifications: Relevant certifications related to electrical engineering and substation design are a plus.
