Job Description

The ideal candidate must be able to work with a multidisciplinary (including CSA, electrical, mechanical / process) team to produce complete estimates and reports for presentation to clients. Your approach is to ensure client objectives are met through the delivery of an effective service.

Education / Experience

  • College degree in Cost Management / Quantity Surveying, or related field
  • 5-8 yrs experience delivering cost management, to include cost estimating, cost plans, construction projects, and management services.
  • Experience with MEP, estimating, and construction management.
  • Detailed knowledge of all technical aspects of construction to support civil, structural and architectural building elements.
  • Focus on CSA estimating at all levels of detail from conceptual to details labor/ plant/ equipment breakout including working environment / productivity adjustments for different project types and locations.
  • Be able to support estimates with benchmark data to validate proposed costs.
  • Thorough understanding of installation and labor variables through use different estimating tools and application of union or other rates
  • Member of/or seeking membership of a Professional Institute
  • Good understanding of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, as they relate to construction projects in the data centres, manufacturing facilities, high manufacturing laboratories

Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of all aspects of cost management and technical knowledge in specific areas
  • Experience as commission manager on a wide range of projects, including high level of complexity
  • Good knowledge of all methods of construction and procurement
  • Experience with advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
  • Good knowledge of experience gained within the stated industry sectors.
  • Demonstrate solid presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Projects, and other computer software.

  • Demonstrate strong listening & communication skills
  • Provide estimate and cost planning to include producing and presenting the final cost reports.
  • Perform all aspects of work tendering and procurement, including managing the pre-qualification stage, produce tender list, compile the preliminaries together, tender analysis, produce tender report, and compile contractual documents
  • Participate effectively with post contract cost variances and the change control processes, where applicable refer major changes to line manager
  • Manage cost checks and carry our evaluation is on larger projects, and ensure timely and accurate cost checking, and valuation process.
  • Produce monthly post contract cost reports and present to client
  • Perform cost risk analysis
  • Provide input into value engineering; negotiate and approve final accounts
  • Maintain liaison with client and other consultants at all project stages
  • Assist in the production of bid documentation
  • Maintain central feedback and learning on cost estimating from prospects and projects and contribute to updating of best practices in estimating
