Capital Equipment Procurement Manager will lead the selection and procurement of wind turbines for the North American market. Managing up to 5 procurement staff, the post holder will create a sustainable competitive advantage for the company and maximize value throughout the development, construction, and operations of projects through negotiating multifaceted renewable energy supply and service agreements. This position will be on a hybrid remote work schedule, working three days in the office and two days from home.

Main accountabilities:

  • Lead North American strategic sourcing organization for wind turbines
  • Responsible for evaluating product options and making recommendations for product selections
  • Negotiate and manage Master Supply Agreements and Operations and Maintenance Agreements for power generation equipment that provide required flexibility and appropriate technology to meet the needs of utility-scale wind across the portfolio
  • Negotiate project-specific supply, operations, and warranty agreements for projects entering the construction phase in any given year based on inputs from Market Intelligence, Finance, Development, Legal, Project Management Office, Engineering, Construction, and Asset Management
  • Procure equipment to support the qualification of projects for Production Tax Credits and manage the inventories and allocation of such equipment
  • Lead competitive bid processes according to guidelines established by EDPR NA
  • Serve as primary contact for North America, with suppliers for wind turbines
  • Develop market intel pricing benchmarks to forecast capital equipment pricing
  • Provide support to:
    • Project Management Office on budget and scheduling
    • Origination team with Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) pricing
    • Finance team with cash flow forecasting
    • Market Intelligence team with business plan development
    • Operations team with establishing and managing operations supply chain
    • Engineering team with technical design
    • Construction team as liaison with suppliers throughout delivery and commissioning
    • Development team with project prospecting and layouts
  • Implement and develop strategies for:
    • Wind turbines procurement on a global scale to the overall benefit of the business
    • Contracting and procurement as market conditions evolve in order to provide quality of prices within the business plan while encouraging third-party development
    • Various procurement processes and procedures as needed
  • Maintain responsibility for bid evaluations, commercial and contractual negotiations, and contract approval prior to contract finalization
  • Assist with training of personnel in negotiations and contract management
  • Assist with the development of standardized processes and templates for all contracting efforts
  • Additional duties as required

Direct reports: 4 - 5

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, strong preference for wind turbine procurement or sales experience
  • Ability to read, write, and negotiate contracts
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise. (Preferred).
